Thanks for being interested in me! Man, that feels good. Here’s what I’m all about …
I’m a freelance content marketer and copywriter living in Green Bay, Wisconsin, with my fabulous wife and three wild boys. Most days, my life feels like one of those sitcoms about a fat guy who’s married to a beautiful woman and they have cocky kids who are always getting into trouble. I’m still working on a memorable sitcom dad catchphrase I can yell.
I’ve had some fun jobs over the years. That includes a Hollywood internship at Danny DeVito’s former production company, a five-year stint as a local news producer, and a gig as a nightlife reporter taking photos of drunk people and interviewing stand-up comics.
Over the past decade, I’ve become immersed in the practice of content marketing, which my previous roles prepared me for quite well. I started as a copywriter and web content producer for two different eCommerce companies before moving into the agency world and working as a Content Marketing Director. Most recently, I’ve been a content marketing consultant for Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.com, Jetpack, Tumblr, and other amazing brands.
I love variety. That means new people, new ideas, new clients, and new projects. One time, I took a DiSC profile test. These were my results:
Apparently, I’m a DiC. Strangely, that’s exactly what my wife calls me. HEY-ooo!
I’ve written a lot of long, somewhat annoying cover letters in my life. So, instead of droning on about myself, let’s take a visual look at my life and career:
The Kasey Steinbrinck Timeline
Kasey Steinbrinck is born, and the world will never be the same.
Kasey rides his big-wheel so fast he burns a hole in one of the plastic tires.
Kasey receives a beginner’s ventriloquist dummy from his aunt and uncle for Christmas. He will use the doll to perform at birthday parties, but it will also give him nightmares.
Kasey joins a high school jazz combo as the piano player. Everyone laughs when they call him a “pianist” during school announcements.
While serving as the teacher’s assistant in band class, Kasey meets a freshman named Ashley who will become the love of his life.
After years of homeschooling, Kasey manages to graduate from public high school in De Pere, Wisconsin.
Full Armor, Kasey’s dormitory wing at Oral Roberts University, reclaims the Intramural All-School Championship after being disbanded two years earlier for mooning campus security guards.
Kasey begins an internship at Jersey Films, Danny DeVito’s former production company in Los Angeles. He blows an opportunity to be an assistant to the director’s assistant on the film Along Came Polly. He makes lots of copies and gets lots of coffee for development execs instead.
Following his graduation from ORU, and a summer cleaning carpets in an old motel, Kasey begins a five year stint as a local news producer at WLUK-TV FOX 11.
Kasey marries Ashley, making an honest woman out of the love of his life. He is, however, too inebriated to consummate the marriage that night.
Kasey joins a band of misfits to help produce a revival of the local late-night TV show Chiller Theater with Ned the Dead.
While underemployed during the Great Recession, Kasey becomes a father. Maxwell J. Steinbrinck is born, and the world will never be the same.
Kasey leaves his job as an entertainment reporter at the Appleton Post-Crescent to enter the world of marketing. He’ll spend the next five years writing product descriptions for personal checks and supplements while blogging about personal finance and natural health. (He also grows a beard)
Kasey and Ashley’s second son, Milo, is born. He is an independent adventurer. The world will never be the same.
Kasey, Ashley, and a few friends launch the Wisconsin lifestyle website WhooNEW.com. Articles on bubblers, bratwurst, and blue moon ice cream begin to go viral. Kasey’s ego explodes.
Kasey joins the team at Element, a full-service Midwestern marketing agency serving clients around the country. He eventually becomes Element’s content marketing director.
Kasey and Ashley’s third (and hopefully final) son, Judah Jo, is born. The world will definitely never be the same.
Kasey becomes a content marketing consultant for Automattic — the company behind WordPress.com, Jetpack, and Tumblr. It’s his dream job. Founder, Matt Mullenweng, however, is very unsure about him.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kasey bravely pours a cup of coffee, sits down in his home office, updates his personal portfolio website, and creates a timeline of his life and career.
This website must have worked. Kasey is hired as Content Marketing Manager at Email on Acid, a provocatively named SaaS company in Colorado that helps marketers deliver email perfection regardless of their choice in recreational drugs.
Kasey turns 40 years old and heads into the woods of northern Wisconsin alone to reflect on his life. It only takes about a day-and-a-half.
Email on Acid is acquired by Pathwire, a growing tech company aiming to help brands build better connected experiences. Kasey joins their team of talented marketers.
